Great Yarmouth and Waveney Pride promised as a part of their event this year (2022), to donate a tree to the borough in memory of those that have lost their lives, not just locally but worldwide, in the fight for equality and freedom. This would also stand as a memorial site for those wishing to remember their LGBTQ+ friends and family whom have passed.
We are pleased to announce that the GYWPride committee has ordered, donated and arranged for the Tree, Pinus sylvestris (Scots Pine), to be planted in St George’s Park, a central place in Great Yarmouth.
We decided that we needed to plant the tree in St Georges Park, to put a little bit of LGBTQ Positivity back into a zone where hate has recently happened.
We will be holding a planting ceremony when the tree is ready, dates to be confirmed. So please keep your eyes peeled and join us as we put our Pinus in the ground at St George’s Park.
